Roma defender Nicolas Burdisso could miss the rest of the season after being stretchered off for Argentina on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old picked up a knee injury in a collision with Porto s James Rodriguez in his nation s 2-1 win over Colombia, and will now have tests to determine the extent of the knock.
The South American centre-back may is thought to have picked up ligament damage in the World Cup qualifier, and is set to be examined further before flying back to Europe.
A lengthy lay-off would be a blow for Luis Enrique s side, which is seventh in Serie A, seven points behind leaders Udinese.
Burdisso, who joined Roma from Inter Milan in 2009, has made nearly 100 appearances for Roma, including starting Roma s last game against Novara, which they won 2-0.
